Real Simple Sleep Secrets
Here are 13 sleep secrets to help you fall asleep faster and sleep deeper throughout the night. Some of the tips are from the January 2013 issue of Real Simple magazine.
Get a foot massage from your spouse.
Drink some herbal tea.
Avoid stressful topics after 9:00 p.m.
Use earplugs and a sleep mask if necessary.
Keep the bedroom dark.
Use your bed only for sleep (no TV, ereaders, or computers).
Keep your bedroom clean, dusted, and vacuumed.
Use unscented detergents for bedding and pillows.
Keep your cellphone away from your bed.
Establish consistent sleep and wake schedules, even on the weekends.
Avoid alcohol and caffeine 4 to 6 hours before sleep.
Exercise in the late afternoon.
Or walk your dog early in the evening.
