Amazon.com’s Election Heat Map
When it comes to the country’s political leanings, Amazon has taken the nation’s political pulse, and it’s conservative by a wide margin: 60% to 40%. At least when it comes to buying books.
The online retailer has created an Election Heat Map that attempts to analyze the book-buying habits of its users according to political leanings. To be fair, the site makes a point of saying that “books aren’t votes, so a map of book purchases may reflect curiosity as much as commitment.”
I will be curious to see how this Election Heat Map reflects the actual outcome of the 2012 presidential election in a few days.
