    Cut Calories for Christmas

On a diet? Want to be healthier this holiday season? Need to lose weight? Check out these recipe substitutions. Cut a quick 50 to 900 calories.

You can still make your favorite holiday treats while presenting healthier and trimmed-down cookies, biscuits, pies, muffins, breads, puddings, and more.

Whole Wheat for White — Replace 2 cups of white flour with 1 cup whole wheat flour and 1 cup all-purpose flour. This cuts 50 calories and adds 3 grams of protein.

Applesauce for Oil — Replace 1 cup of oil with 1/2 cup of oil and 1/2 cup of applesauce. You could also use dried plum or pumpkin puree. This saves almost 900 calories.

Less Sugar — Simply replace 1 cup of sugar with 1/2 cup of sugar in most recipes. Most people won’t notice. This saves 387 calories.

Egg Whites for Eggs — Replace 4 eggs with 2 eggs and 2 egg whites. This trims 10 grams of fat. A few drops of water will make up for the 2 missing egg yolks.
