Brand Design Mistakes

Infographic: 6 No-No’s in Designing Your Brand Image

Avoid Negative Messages – For example, down arrows are perceived as negative images.

Don’t Isolate Customers – Some symbols you might incorporate into your brand could make potential customers feel awkward (such as fish or rainbows).

Avoid Irrelevancy – Make sure your brand image actually matches your message. For example, what’s the goose doing in the Wawa logo.

Don’t Send an Inconsistent Message – There are brands, for example, where a crest logo simply doesn’t work, like dog kennels.

Avoid Generic Images – Generic images make for very bland logos that don’t stand out. For example, what’s with the green block in H&R Block’s brand? Yes, it’s a block but really bland.

Don’t Mess Up – Some images within a brand logo can be really suggestive. For example, check out these two logos:

Charity Showcase

St. Labre Indian School supports the needy Native American children (Crow and Northern Cheyenne) who live and attend school at St. Labre. This is one of my favorite charities. I love the spirit of these kids. Donate via http://www.stlabre.org or by calling 866-753-5496.
